Country Darkness, Christmas Lights

17 Dec, 2020

Hi everyone,

As 2020 draws to an end, a year we will all be glad to see the back of,  just a final letter from us to wish you all well for Christmas and especially for 2021.

Also, we want to sincerely thank you for your support this year.  Not just in buying the album, the EPs, merchandise etc but also for your messages, your emails, your online comments. They inspire and encourage, and when things are as tough as they have been this year, make us want to keep going.

If not, listen again on BBC IPlayer:

Over the past 2 weeks we also spoke to a number of papers about the album. Here are links to 2 interviews:

1. With Martin Johnson at Americana-UK

2 – And Bernard Zuel of the Sydney Herald, for his own site and the Australian magazine ‘Rhythms’

The current issue of Country Music People also carries this 4 page article and interview too. Click to enlarge:

Country Darkness In The Charts / Black Friday Deals

27 Nov, 2020

Hi everyone

We are sending you another short newsletter to say a huge THANK YOU to everyone who has bought, streamed or downloaded THE NEW ALBUM.  YOU GOT IT INTO THE CHARTS!

The week of release it went into The Americana Chart at No. 16, and last week the song Different Finger was in the top 20 iTunes chart in The Netherlands.

Even after all these years of being musicians, it is still a thrill to see your work recognised by getting in a chart, and in the company of many other new albums that we are currently grooving to.

If you want to help try and move it a little further up the charts then please go to ‘Amazon CD purchase’ OR the store/streaming platform of your choice.

Or share the links with anyone you think should be hearing the album. SPREAD THE WORD BROTHERS & SISTERS!

Your help; A small favour to ask. If you have the time and the inclination could you leave a review / rating on Amazon? Would be much appreciated and really helps.

All Albums

And as today is BLACK FRIDAY, officially discount day across the world, by a small way of a thank you, we have reduced ALL albums and EPs, on both CD and vinyl, by 20% until next week.

On the Radio

We are grateful for lots of airplay for the album, including being made Record of the Week on a number of shows at BBC Radio Scotland and RTE1 Ireland.

Thanks also to our old friend Bob Harris for playing I Felt The Chill Before The Winter Came, on his BBC Radio 2 Country Show this week. If you missed, listen again here.

It comes in at around 46 minutes.

Special mention too to the great Hal Ketchum who passed away this week. Very sad news.

In the Papers

Keep a look out for a number of interviews we have given  recently about the album. These include in print with Country Music People, the web site Americana-UK with the Australian writer Bernard Zuel and this one with the Birmingham Mail (click to open in a larger size):

On Stage

IT WILL END IN TIERS. Once again, the live show and full-band streamed concert, from The Met in Bury, which should have happened on Nov 7th, and was moved to Friday Dec 11th. Is being moved AGAIN!! With the Manchester area back in Tier 3 it means we are not allowed to have an audience.

We are so disappointed having to postpone again but we don’t want to do this show as a live stream only. We want you there in person. We will find a new date and we will make it happen.   Original tickets are valid and new tickets can be bought here.

Meanwhile, we will be announcing a live stream from home, very soon. This will be just the 2 of us, and maybe Mabel too, if we can raise the money to cover her fee! The plan is to do this on December 11th via our Facebook page.

Sorry to end on bad news but we will do our best to make up for the disappointment. This really has been a year of ruined plans but we send you our best wishes.

Stay safe and keep well.  Please keep enjoying the album and we will see you in person or via a screen very soon

Lou and Michael
